Flower stall and Alausi local at Milagro, Guayaquil and Quito Railway, Ecuador, August 1992.

Enthusiasts went here for the steam, but I liked the character of the recent railbusses. In general, I prefer my trains very closely integrated into the local scene, natural and social, and light and narrow gauge railways do this best. The "wild west" street running which still features in Ecuador is ideal. This line carried lots of local traffic in 1992, but is now basically operated for tourists, in sections only.
